About the Opportunity
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a large, geographically dispersed regional business and lead a team through its next phase of performance, growth and operational excellence. Reporting to a State Manager, you will lead a portfolio spanning approximately 15 sites across NSW and the ACT, with accountability for more than 150 employees and full commercial responsibility for a business unit generating over $100M in revenue.
Supporting a diverse customer base, the portfolio includes a mix of commercial and municipal contracts, with a strong commercial focus. You will work across complex customer environments, balancing operational delivery, commercial outcomes and long-term customer relationships while ensuring the region continues to perform against both financial and service expectations.
Success in this role will come from your ability to lead through others. Working closely with regional leadership teams, you will drive operational performance, improve commercial outcomes, strengthen leadership capability and build greater consistency across a complex multi-site environment. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will play a key role in shaping business strategy, supporting customer retention and growth initiatives, influencing major operational decisions and contributing to long-term business improvement programs. You will work closely with executive leadership and regularly present business cases, performance recommendations and strategic initiatives to senior stakeholders.
This is a highly visible leadership role suited to someone who enjoys being in the field, building relationships, solving operational challenges and creating alignment across a diverse regional network.
About You
You are an experienced operational leader who has successfully led regional, multi-site businesses with full P&L accountability. Your background may come from transport, logistics, waste management, industrial services, infrastructure, field services, utilities, manufacturing, supply chain or other asset-intensive operational environments where safety, service delivery, fleet utilisation and operational performance are critical to success. Experience developing leaders, building succession pipelines, negotiating with government or council stakeholders, managing complex customer relationships and influencing senior executives will be highly regarded.
You understand the realities of leading regional operations and know how to balance customer outcomes, operational efficiency and commercial performance. You are comfortable working with data, performance metrics and financial drivers, using insight to make informed decisions and improve business results. Given the size and geographic spread of the portfolio, the ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout regional NSW and the ACT is essential.
What’s on Offer
This role offers the opportunity to lead one of the organisation’s largest regional portfolios, combining operational leadership, commercial accountability and strategic influence. You will have genuine exposure to executive leadership, the ability to influence major business decisions and the opportunity to contribute to significant operational, fleet and technology transformation initiatives.
The portfolio presents a meaningful turnaround opportunity, with strong foundations already in place and the ability to make a visible impact on performance, leadership capability and long-term business outcomes. For leaders who enjoy complexity, scale and the challenge of building high-performing teams across a large regional footprint, this is an opportunity to leave a lasting mark on a substantial Australian business. Competitive remuneration package including motor vehicle allowance, together with a performance incentive program linked to business outcomes.
