- Lead a large-scale metropolitan $100M + operation underpinned by long-term municipal contracts and council partnerships
- Influence commercial performance, stakeholder relationships and service delivery across 5 sites
- Play a key role in contract renewals, future tender opportunities and the ongoing evolution of fleet and operational capability
Please note: Alongside this Sydney Metro role, we are also managing a separate NSW/ACT Regional Manager opportunity. During the recruitment process, candidates may be considered for either role based on their background, experience and career preferences.
About the Opportunity
Managing a region that services multiple council clients across metropolitan Sydney, you will take ownership of a large-scale operation with responsibility for commercial performance, operational delivery, stakeholder engagement and leadership across a network of sites and a workforce of more than 400 employees. Based in either Western Sydney or Southern Sydney, the role provides oversight across a broader metropolitan portfolio spanning multiple locations and council partnerships.
Unlike highly transactional environments, this portfolio is underpinned by long-duration contracts, creating a unique balance of operational complexity, customer partnership and long-term strategic planning. You will work closely with council executives and senior stakeholders, helping shape outcomes that extend well beyond day-to-day service delivery.
The region is entering an important period, with contract renewals, upcoming tender activity and the mobilisation of newly awarded work all forming part of the landscape. At the same time, there is a strong focus on uplifting forecasting accuracy, commercial performance, operational discipline and leadership capability across the network.
Success will come from bringing together people, fleet, operations and commercial outcomes while positioning the region for long-term sustainable performance. More than simply running an operation, this is an opportunity to influence the future direction of a strategically important municipal portfolio and play a key role in its next phase of growth and performance improvement.
About You
You have successfully led large, multi-site operational businesses where safety, service delivery, workforce leadership and commercial outcomes all matter equally. Experience will come from transport, logistics, infrastructure services, utilities, waste management, field services, facilities management, industrial services, supply chain or other complex operational environments where large teams, fleet assets and customer contracts are central to success.
You understand how to lead through leaders. You know how to develop capability, manage full P&L accountability, hold teams accountable, drive performance through data and translate operational improvements into stronger financial outcomes. Experience working with government, local government or long-term contract environments will be highly regarded, particularly where senior stakeholder management and contract performance have been critical to success.
Given the regional nature of the portfolio, travel across all operational sites is an essential component of the role, requiring a visible leadership presence and regular engagement with teams, customers and stakeholders throughout the network.
What’s on Offer
This is an opportunity to lead a region of genuine scale within a business that combines operational complexity, long-term customer partnerships and significant strategic importance. The portfolio benefits from established, long-duration contracts that provide stability while still offering meaningful opportunities to influence future growth, contract retention and business performance. You will play a key role in shaping how technology, fleet operations and commercial disciplines evolve across the region, while contributing to broader business initiatives including contract mobilisation, enterprise negotiations and operational transformation. Few leadership opportunities offer this combination of scale, stability, strategic stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence meaningful change across an established regional operation. Competitive remuneration package including motor vehicle allowance, together with a performance incentive program linked to business outcomes.
